Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the status of WWE’s “Cyber Sunday” pay-per-view.
News broke this week that after officially changing Cyber Sunday to WWE Annihilation, the company has gone back to the original name for the late October show.
PWInsider reports that the reversal is most likely not permanent–the company simply did not like the Annihilation name and wanted to list Cyber Sunday on the calendar until it determines a better title for the pay-per-view. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, on the other hand, notes that the company will likely end up doing Cyber Sunday again after all as part of its initiative to boost web traffic.
Cyber Sunday has historically been a poor pay-per-view performer for WWE, although the online voting aspect of the show does boost the company’s web presence.
