Report: “Dollhouse” Scores Second Season

Reports circulated Friday that FOX had agreed to renew “Dollhouse” for a second season.

Despite beginning to develop–especially in the latter half of the season–the cult buzz expected of a Joss Whedon series, the show consistently underperformed in the ratings for FOX. Its finale posted a mere 1.0 in adults 18-49, which would be considered a trainwreck in many scenarios. Though the show does post solid DVR playback and online streaming numbers, it is far from a competent ratings performer, let alone a winner.

Yet FOX executives are reportedly very into the series–enough to give it another opportunity to grow the audience. If the deal does go through as reported, however, production will agree to budget cuts.

Assuming “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” does indeed get cancelled, as most are expecting, FOX’s drama bubble appears popped–every show knows its fate.
