Taylor Swift’s “Ophelia,” “Showgirl,” “Opalite,” “Elizabeth Taylor,” “Wi$h Li$t” Receive Big Opening Day Pop Radio Airplay

The five songs are all in the Top 50 on this week’s building chart.

Following-up on Headline Planet’s report, pop radio stations indeed enthusiastically spin songs from Taylor Swift’s new album “The Life Of A Showgirl” throughout Friday.

Every song received considerable airplay from dozens of stations; top supporters like 102.7 KIIS Los Angeles and 95.9 KISS Wisconsin played each track at least six times.

Five songs, meanwhile, appear in the Top 50 on Mediabase’s building/real-time chart for the pop format. The current building chart ranks songs based on the first six days of the September 28-October 4 tracking period; the Swift songs, of course, only entered the market late on the fifth day of the tracking period.

“The Fate of Ophelia” leads the way at #32 with 1,501 spins. “The Life Of A Showgirl (featuring Sabrina Carpenter)” follows at #42 with 405 plays, while “Opalite” starts at #44 with 346. “Elizabeth Taylor” (#48, 307) and “Wi$h Li$t” (#49, 269) are also on the building chart.

Showcasing the Top 40 for the full September 28-October 4 tracking period, the official Mediabase pop chart will arrive Sunday. As the focus single and a song that is already comfortably in the real-time Top 40, “The Fate of Ophelia” is a lock to make that chart; the others (particularly “Showgirl”) have a shot depending how full-album support holds up Saturday.
