SZA’s “Saturn” Takes Early Lead In Race For #1 At Pop Radio

The SZA single could reach #1 on this coming week’s chart.

Because the week is young and because Memorial Day Weekend can impact playlists, it is far too early to make any definitive declarations. It does, however, appear that SZA’s “Saturn” has a shot at reaching #1 on this coming week’s Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.

The song received 2,037 spins on Sunday, which marked the first day of the May 26-June 1 tracking period. Though actually down 0.5% from last Sunday’s mark, the count slots “Saturn” at #1 on the Mediabase building/real-time chart.

It does not have a big lead over Benson Boone’s building #2 “Beautiful Things” and Ariana Grande’s building #3 “we can’t be friends,” and, as noted, the beginning of the tracking period can be erratic (especially on a holiday weekend). Still, the song does appear to have a momentum edge (both of those songs seem to have peaked) — and thus does appear to be a clear contender for #1 on the official chart.

Said official chart will arrive this coming Sunday.
