Making good on the early-week projection, Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello’s “Señorita” rises to #1 on this week’s Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.
That is not, however, the only good news involving a Shawn Mendes track. His previous single “If I Can’t Have You” concurrently rises to #2 on this week’s chart.
Indeed, Mendes has the top two songs on this week’s listing. Though the fear is quite rare historically, it has interestingly taken place twice this year. Earlier this year, Halsey held the top two spots with her own “Without Me” and as part of the Benny Blanco and Khalid collaboration “Eastside.”
“Señorita,” which was #3 on last week’s chart, seizes the throne from Billie Eilish’s “bad guy.” It received ~18,528 spins during the August 18-24 tracking period, besting last week’s mark by 992.
It follows “Stitches” and “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” as Mendes’ third #1. It follows “Bad Things,” “Havana,” and “Never Be The Same” as the fourth #1 for Cabello as an explicitly named artist. She also scored a chart-topper (“Work From Home”) as part of Fifth Harmony.
“If I Can’t Have You” rises two places to #4 on the strength of its ~17,106 spins (+565).
Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber’s “I Don’t Care” slides one spot to #3, while Billie Eilish’s “bad guy” dips three places to #4. A one-place gain lifts Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” to a new peak of #5.
