“Angel Has Fallen” Takes #1 At US Weekend Box Office, “Overcomer” Makes Top 3

“Angel Has Fallen” unsurprisingly debuts at #1 on this week’s chart.

In a rather predictable development, “Angel Has Fallen” earns #1 on the US weekend box office.

Per studio estimates, the film will close its opening weekend with $21.3 million in US receipts. Essentially on par with the $21.6 million earned by 2016 predecessor “London Has Fallen,” the tally positions “Angel Has Fallen” as this weekend’s top film.

“Good Boys,” last week’s leader, falls to #2 with $11.8 million. It now boasts a cumulative total of $42.1 million.

Faith-based film “Overcomer” starts at #3 with $8.2 million (from under 2000 screens), while “The Lion King” slips one place to #4 with $8.2 million (cume now $510.6 million).

“Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw,” which added $8.1 million to its haul (cume now $147.7 million), drops three places to #5.

— “Ready Or Not,” the weekend’s other new wide release, grabs #6 with $7.6 million.
