Taylor Swift’s “Lover” Crosses 2 Million Global Units, Tops 2019 Opening Week US Sales High On First Day

Republic touts the opening week numbers for Taylor Swift’s “Lover.”

As opening week sales projections are beginning to emerge for Taylor Swift’s “Lover,”Republic Records is offering its take on the album’s hot start.

According to the label, “Lover” surpassed 2 million in global consumption (units from album sales + track sales + track streams) on its first day of release. In addition to actual Friday consumption, the number likely accounts for pre-order and applicable bundle redemptions.

It meanwhile achieved 2019’s biggest weekly US sales total in just 24 hours (pre-order and applicable bundle redemptions, again, are almost certainly included in this number).

Republic did not reveal how many US albums “Lover” sold on its first day, but we know its sales total already exceeds 357K. That is the current opening week high mark for 2019, as set by Jonas Brothers’ “Happiness Begins.”

Based on available data, Hits Daily Double issued opening week US projections of 600-675K US sales and 725-825K total US units.
