Hot 100: Lil Nas X & Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” Holds At #1; Now One Week Away From Tying Record

“Old Town Road” continues to threaten the all-time Hot 100 record.

Thanks to yet another week of massive streams, strong sales and big radio activity, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road (featuring Billy Ray Cyrus)” retains its #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100.

Celebrating 15 weeks as the #1 song in America, “Old Town Road” is just one week away from tying the record for longest reign on the chart. Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” and Daddy Yankee, Luis Fonsi & Justin Bieber’s “Despacito” each enjoyed sixteen-week reigns.

The closest competition on this week’s chart comes from Billie Eilish’s “bad guy.” The Billie Eilish tune continues to close the gap, trailing by what Billboard reports as a 1.5-to-1 point ratio (compared with a 1.9-to-1 last week).

In addition to its ongoing momentum, “bad guy” will receive a boost on next week’s chart from the newly released Justin Bieber remix. While the Bieber track has not been putting up monster numbers, it is still a factor on the sales and streaming front.

Granted, “Old Town Road” has a new remix of its own (featuring Young Thug and Mason Ramsey); it is also selling at a discounted price on iTunes.

Post Malone’s “Goodbyes (featuring Young Thug)” (#3), Khalid’s “Talk” (#4) and Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello’s “Señorita” (#5) complete this week’s Top 5.
