Taylor Swift’s “You Need To Calm Down” Received Opening Night Radio Airplay

Some stations played the new single as much as three times.

Because Taylor Swift’s “You Need To Calm Down” officially launched at 12AM Friday on the east coast, it technically launched late Thursday night in other US markets.

Since stations within those markets provided immediate airplay, the new single thus amassed a handful of Thursday spins.

According to Mediabase, a few pop stations delivered multiple spins. 106.1 KISS Seattle, WiLD 94.9 San Francisco, 104.7 KISS Phoenix and 106.5 The End Sacramento each offered 3 spins Thursday night. Several other pop radio stations offered 1 or 2 spins.

“You Need To Calm Down” also received 3 spins from Hot 103.9, a hot adult contemporary station based out of the Riverside-San Bernardino area.

While it is not expected to receive quite as much first-day support as previous single “ME!,” the new single should still make a noteworthy splash at radio Friday. Confirmed by the fact that some west coast stations registered 3 spins between 9PM-11:59PM Thursday night, numerous stations are set to provide hourly airplay.
