Vampire Weekend’s “Father Of The Bride” Wins US Sales Race, Earns #1 On Overall Album Chart

The new Vampire Weekend album debuts at #1.

Making good on early projections, Vampire Weekend’s “Father Of The Bride” won this week’s US album sales and consumption races.

According to Hits Daily Double and BuzzAngle, the album sold about 123K pure US copies during its first week of release. With units from track sales and streams included, the album generated about 141K in total consumption.

Billboard’s data may differ slightly from that reported by Hits, but both outlets will report the same ultimate conclusion: “Father Of The Bride” is #1 for pure sales and total units.

It follows “Contra” and “Modern Vampires Of The City” in becoming the band’s third #1.

In addition to the enthusiasm one would expect for a new Vampire Weekend release, “Father Of The Bride” benefited from a concert ticket-album bundle. Albums redeemed as part of the bundle count as pure sales.
