BTS Again Wins US Sales Race, But Billie Eilish Returns To #1 On Overall Album Chart

“Map Of The Soul: Persona” and “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP” share top honors on this week’s album charts.

This week’s US album race ends in a split-chart scenario. BTS’ “Map Of The Soul: Persona” spends a second week as the pure sales leader, while Billie Eilish’s “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” returns to #1 on the overall album consumption chart.

According to Hits Daily Double and BuzzAngle, “Map Of The Soul: Persona” sold just under 43K pure US copies in its second week of release. The tally comfortably positions the album as the week’s leader for pure sales; Lizzo’s “Cuz I Love You,” the next-best performer, sold about 26.5K pure copies.

While the Billie Eilish album only did about 18.5K in traditional sales (enough for #4 on the pure sales listing), it received a far bigger lift from track sales and streams. Indeed, it registered over 86K in total consumption — enough for #1 on the overall chart.

The next-best performers are Khalid’s “Free Spirit” and BTS’ “Map Of The Soul: Persona” (both are in the 58-60K range).

Billboard’s numerical data may differ slightly from that reported by Hits, but the ultimate chart conclusions should be the same: “Map Of The Soul: Persona” will top the pure sales chart, while “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP” will lead for overall consumption.

Lizzo’s “Cuz I Love You” will meanwhile rank as the top debut on both charts, likely earning #2 for pure sales (~26.5K) and #5 or #6 for total consumption (~42K).
