BTS’ “Map Of The Soul: Persona” Wins US Sales Race, Earns #1 Debut On Billboard 200 (Update)

“Map Of The Soul: Persona” unsurprisingly ranked as the week’s top album.

Update: Like Hits Daily Double, Billboard reports that BTS’ “Map Of The Soul: Persona” took #1 on this week’s pure US sales and total US consumption charts.

Both publications also report the same rounded figures — 196K in pure US sales and 230K in total first-week units (album sales + units from track sales and streams).

“Map Of The Soul: Persona” becomes the third BTS album to claim #1 on the Billboard 200; the group previously got there with “Love Yourself: Tear” and “Love Yourself: Answer.”

Making good on mid-week projections, BTS’ “Map Of The Soul: Persona” debuts as a dominant #1 on this week’s US album sales and consumption charts.

According to Hits Daily Double and BuzzAngle, “Map Of The Soul” sold about 196K pure US copies during its first week of release. With units from track sales and streams included, it generated roughly 230K in first-week consumption.

Both figures represent career highs for BTS.

Due Sunday, Billboard’s data may differ slightly from that reported by Hits. Any discrepancies will not, however, impact the release’s standing as the week’s #1 album.

Per Hits, the pure sales total tops that of the #2 seller by nearly 6x (Anderson .Paak’s “Ventura” sold just under 34K first-week copies). The consumption total offers a 2.5x advantage over the week’s #2 album (Billie Eilish’s “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” generated 91K in total units this week).

“Map Of The Soul: Persona” follows “Love Yourself: Tear” and “Love Yourself: Answer” as BTS’ third #1 album in the US.
