HBO Shares Photos From Record-Breaking “Game Of Thrones” Season Premiere

The season eight premiere set a series high in multi-platform viewership.

Sunday’s eagerly anticipated “Game Of Thrones” season premiere attracted season high interest in various columns.

HBO notes that it drew 17.4 million same-night multi-platform viewers (linear TV, HBO Go and HBO NOW), which represents a new series high. Its live+same-day linear TV number clocked in at 11.8 million, representing a new high for a season premiere and the show’s #2 figure on record. The same-night HBO Now number soared to a new high — not just for “Game Of Thrones” but for HBO overall (granted, that means the HBO Go number fell).

The episode also set series highs on the social media front, generating “more than five million tweets, and 11 million mentions throughout the course of the weekend.”

On the heels of Sunday’s premiere, HBO finally shared a true episodic gallery from the episode. Presumably to preserve the surprise element, it had previously only offered nondescript shots.
