Report: Khalid’s “Free Spirit” Wins US Sales Race, Debuts At #1

“Free Spirit” convincingly ranks as the week’s #1 album.

With numbers that exceed the initial industry projection, Khalid’s “Free Spirit” convincingly wins this week’s US album sales and consumption races.

According to Hits Daily Double and BuzzAngle, the album sold 75K pure US copies during its first week of release. The inclusion of units from track sales and streams yields a consumption figure of 190K.

The album ranks as the week’s top performer in both categories. It is Khalid’s first #1 album.

Set to be revealed Sunday, Billboard’s data may differ from that reported by Hits. The discrepancies will not, however, impact the album’s standing on the chart. It is clearly #1.

The album’s pure sales figure benefited from a concert ticket-album bundle; albums redeemed as part of the bundle count as pure sales. It is worth noting, however, that “Free Spirit” would have nearly claimed #1 based on track sales and streams alone. Hits says the album generated over 114K units from those categories alone.

Billie Eilish’s “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?,” the #2 album, generated 116K in total units this week.
