The remix of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” which features Billy Ray Cyrus, has been generating a considerable amount of buzz since its launch Friday.
The buzz has not, however, been limited to talk. Music fans are buying the song on iTunes, as evidenced by its placement atop the US iTunes Song Sales Chart.
They are also streaming it on Spotify, as evidenced by its ascent to #1 on the US Spotify Streaming Chart.
The remix, which received 2.823 million US streams Saturday, takes #1 on the daily chart. Lil Nas X’s original slips to #2 on the chart with 2.451 million. Across the two tracks, “Old Town Road” received at least 2.5x more US Spotify streams than any other song on Saturday.
— Not simply a hit on the US Spotify platform, “Old Town Road” is also posting big numbers globally. The original was Saturday’s #2 song with 4.332 million worldwide streams, while the remix was #4 with 4.058 million.
The song is also smashing on Apple Music. The remix and original are #1 and #2, respectively on the US and global Apple Music charts.
