“Dumbo” Claims #1 At US Weekend Box Office; “Unplanned” Starts In Top 5

“Dumbo” predictably rules the weekend box office chart.

The new “Dumbo” movie may not have posted blockbuster numbers, but it fared well enough to claim first place at the US weekend box office.

According to studio estimates, “Dumbo” will close its first weekend with $45.0 million in receipts. The gross comfortably ranks as the weekend’s best.

“Us,” last weekend’s leader, slips to #2 this week. The film added $33.6 million to its haul, resulting in a cumulative gross of $128.2 million.

“Captain Marvel” slips one spot to #3 with $20.5 million (cume now $353.8 million), while “Five Feet Apart” keeps #4 with $6.3 million (cume now $35.9 million).

New release “Unplanned,” which launched on just under 1100 screens, debuts at #5. The film earned $6.1 million in opening weekend receipts.
