Regina King Earns First Oscar For Best Supporting Actress

Regina King won an Oscar for her work in “Beale Street.”

Acclaimed actress Regina King scored her first Oscar nomination in conjunction with the 2019 Academy Awards.

She won the prize for which she was nominated.

King indeed earned her first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. The trophy acknowledges her performance in “If Beale Street Could Talk.”

Other nominees for this year’s Best Supporting Actress honor included Amy Adams, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz and Marina de Tavira.

Currently underway, Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony is airing on ABC. There is notably no “host,” although Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey delivered what effectively amounted to a “monologue” prior to delivering King’s award.
