Rami Malek Wins First Best Actor Oscar For “Bohemian Rhapsody”

Rami Malek predictably won the Oscar for Best Actor.

Going into Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony, oddsmakers viewed Rami Malek as a strong favorite to win for Best Actor.

They were correct.

At around 10:45PM ET, the formal announcement came: Malek won the award for his turn as Freddie Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Malek is celebrating his first career Oscar.

Other nominees in the category included Willem Dafoe, Viggo Mortensen, Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale.

“Bohemian Rhapsody,” which won in technical categories earlier, is also in the running for Best Picture. That award will be issued soon.
