“Alita: Battle Angel” Claims #1 At Soft Presidents’ Day Weekend Box Office

No film posted mammoth numbers over the four-day weekend.

Presidents’ Day Weekend did not provide a break from the soft 2019 US box office. The leading films over the four-day weekend combined for the worst total in over a decade.

The strongest performer in the underwhelming climate was “Alita: Battle Angel.” The film grossed an estimated $34.3 million over four days, bringing its cume (with the Valentine’s Day release included) to $43.0 million.

“The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part” takes #2 with $27.3 million in holiday weekend receipts. Its cumulative tally now stands at $68.8 million.

Newcomer “Isn’t It Romantic” follows at #3 for Presidents’ Day Weekend with $16.6 million (cume now $22.9 million).

“What Men Want” takes #4 with $12.4 million (cume now $37.6 million), and a four-day weekend haul of $11.0 million slots “Happy Death Day 2U” at #5 (cume now $14.7 million).
