Update: FOX’s “The Masked Singer” unsurprisingly endured a ratings hit in week two, but it still comfortably ranked as Wednesday’s #1 show.
According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s episode drew a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 7.06 million overall viewers. The 2.3 was the night’s best rating by far — no other network show drew better than a 1.3.
Last week’s episode drew a 3.0 in the demo and 9.36 million in overall viewership.

FOX’s “The Masked Singer,” which premiered to a very strong rating last week, drew a predictably smaller audience in week two.
According to metered market data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s episode drew a 4.9 overnight household rating. The number trails the 6.4 posted by last week’s broadcast.
The drop is substantial, but the 4.9 rating is still good — and stronger than many would have expected for this show. It also comfortably tops anything posted by last season’s FOX competition series “The Four.”
“The Masked Singer” should, moreover, retain its crown in adults 18-49. Ratings for that demographic should emerge by the early afternoon.
The question, of course, is whether the drop will continue in the weeks ahead. It is hard to imagine the show falling to bad ratings territory, but it remains to be seen whether the show will finish its first season as a bona fide ratings hit.
