Becky G, Gwen Stefani Comment On ABC’s November 29 Disney Holiday Special

Becky G and Gwen Stefani offer sound bites on “The Wonderful World Of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration.”

On the night November 29, ABC will air one of this year’s Disney Parks holiday specials.

The special, which is entitled “The Wonderful World Of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration,” features performances by artists like Gwen Stefani, Becky G, Meghan Trainor, Why Don’t We, and Andrea Bocelli.

Each of the performances was filmed earlier this fall at a Disney Park.

Ahead of the broadcast, ABC’s media team issued brief “sound bite” interviews with some of the performers. We transcribed the Becky G and Gwen Stefani discussions:

On her performance
To be performing in this very special show that, to be honest, I never miss … it’s always been a goal of mine. A dream of mine, I guess you can say. This year, I get to be part of it by singing “Santa Baby.” It has a nice, little “Disney Magic” twist to it, which is going to be fun. I have a couple special drummers joining me on stage. We’re definitely going to bring a lot of energy and a lot of good vibes.

On the holiday season
Disney and the holidays go so well together because the word that ties it all together is “magical.” I think of the time I share with my family, and that’s magical. The times we share at Disney are just as magical. The fact that we get to give this experience to people at home is nice because we get to share the magic with everybody.

When I think of the holidays, I not only think of Disney but also the food. Food is like my favorite thing in the world, it makes me so happy. Obviously, being Mexicana, my grandparents always, always – it’s a tradition to make tamales and make pozole, and I feel like it’s all part of my holiday memories.

On her performance
I’m here at Disneyland tonight, and I am performing for this amazing holiday special. I get to do some music – I did a Christmas album, so I’m excited to be able to get up there at Disneyland because this is my favorite place in the world.

Tonight, I am performing “Feliz Navidad,” which is a song I did on my new Christmas record. The record is called “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” and I re-released it this year, so I got to add a few songs. I thought that “Feliz Navidad,” given that I’m from Anaheim, is a song that I grew up with and wanted to do a version of that. I got to do that, so I’m pretty excited about that tonight.

For me to be part of this holiday show is something I never could have dreamed up. It would be like a bucket list, yet I couldn’t even think of it when I was little. I lived so close to Disneyland my whole life, I was always watching every single Disney cartoon and really into animation, really into the music. So, to be here and be able to perform in the park is just beyond a dream.

On Disney and the holidays

I feel like Disney is all about … making memories for people. I think people wait their whole lives to come here and have that experience. Through all the cartoons, all the stories they tell, the music, and the fantasy … I think the holidays is the same thing, it’s basically celebrating life, family, it’s time to just make memories. They’re very perfect together.
