Modest reviews did not prevent “Bohemian Rhapsody” from becoming the US Friday box office champion.
The biopic earned an impressive $18.4 million Friday. The figure, which comfortably ranks as the day’s best, positions the film for an opening weekend in the $45-51 million range.
Fellow newcomer “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” earned second place Friday. The film earned $5.6 million in its first day.
“Nobody’s Fool” took #3 with $4.8 million in receipts, while “Halloween” grabbed #4 on the strength of its $3.3 million in Friday ticket sales.
“A Star Is Born,” which added $3.2 million to its tally, ranked as Friday’s #5 film.
