Twenty One Pilots’ “Trench” Debuts At #2 For Sales, Takes #2 On Billboard 200

“Trench” lands at #2 on this week’s album charts.

Update: While Hits Daily Double and Billboard report slightly different numbers, they agree on a key reality: twenty one pilots’ “Trench” is the #2 album in America.

“Trench” takes #2 on the Hits sales chart with 134K in opening week album sales. The inclusion of units from track sales and track streams produces a consumption tally of 170K, yielding a #2 bow on the Hits Top 50.

Billboard meanwhile reports 135K in pure sales and 175K in total units. It lists the album at #2 on Top Album Sales and #2 on the Billboard 200.

The Billboard numbers represent new career highs for twenty one pilots, surpassing the 134K sales and 147K units earned by previous album “Blurryface.” That album, however, debuted at #1.

twenty one pilots’ “Trench” will earn #2 on this week’s key US album charts.

According to Hits Daily Double and BuzzAngle, the album sold about 134K pure US copies this past week. With units from track sales and streams included, it generated about 170K in total US units.

Due Sunday, Billboard’s more authoritative data may differ slightly from that reported by Hits. The differences should not, however, be enough to impact the album’s chart positions.

The pure sales total will yield a #2 bow on the Billboard Top Album Sales breakdown, while the consumption tally will produce a #2 debut on the Billboard 200.

Credited with about 165K in sales and 220K in total units, Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born” soundtrack will rule both.

“Trench” is the follow-up to twenty one pilots’ “Blurryface,” which debuted at #1 with 134K sales and 147K total units.
