Although it is unlikely to contend for #1 on the all-genre charts, Eric Church’s “Desperate Man” will post sizable opening week sales and consumption numbers.
According to Hits Daily Double, “Desperate Man” is expected to sell 100-110K pure US copies during the October 5-11 tracking period. With units from track streams and sales included, it may generate 110-120K in total consumption.
Based on those numbers, “Desperate Man” is likely looking at #3 on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart (below twenty one pilots’ “Trench” and the soundtrack to “A Star Is Born”). It will probably take #5 on the Billboard 200 (below “Trench,” “A Star is Born,” Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter V,” and Lil Baby & Gunna’s “Drip Harder”).
“Desperate Man” is the follow-up to “Mr. Misunderstood,” which had an unconventional release. It launched toward the very end of its first tracking week, but still managed 70K in sales and 76K in total units. It then moved an additional 58K sales and 65K units during its first full week of release.
