Ratings: “Empire” Falls To Series Low But Still Ties For 1st Place; “STAR” Drops From Season Premiere

FOX’s Wednesday dramas endured week-over-week ratings declines.

Although they still fared well from a competitive standpoint, FOX’s two Wednesday dramas both endured declines from last week’s season premieres.

“Empire” actually set a new series low in the adults 18-49 demographic.

According to national data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s “Empire” drew a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 5.09 million viewers. The numbers trail the 1.9 rating and 6.09 million viewer sum posted by last week’s episode.

The demo rating, moreover, represents the show’s lowest on record. No previous episode had gone below a 1.6. One episode did, however, post a smaller overall viewership figure (5.02 million viewers on May 9, 2018).

“Empire” led into “STAR,” which drew a 1.2 rating and averaged 3.99 million viewers. Last week’s season premiere drew a 1.5 and 4.64 million.

Despite the decline, “Empire” still tied “Survivor” as the night’s top broadcast network program in adults 18-49. “STAR” only trailed a handful of programs in the demo.
