Emmys: “Game Of Thrones” Named Best Drama, “Mrs. Maisel” Wins For Best Comedy

“Game Of Thrones” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” won the night’s biggest prizes.

HBO’s “Game Of Thrones” won for Outstanding Drama Series at the 67th and 68th Primetime Emmy Awards. But insofar as it did not air during the eligibility window, it did not get to extend its streak at the 69th ceremony.

It was eligible this year, and it did win.

“Game Of Thrones” won the Outstanding Drama award in the closing moments of Monday’s ceremony. It beat out “This Is Us,” “Westworld,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Crown,” and “Stranger Things.”

— Shortly before “Thrones” received the drama trophy, Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” won for Outstanding Comedy. Its rival nominees included “Atlanta,” “Silicon Valley,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “GLOW,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “black-ish,” and “Barry.”
