Why Don’t We’s “8 Letters” Reaches #1 On US iTunes Sales Chart

The new Troye Sivan, Jesus Culture, Alkaline Trio and Eminem albums form the balance of the Top 5.

Update: Shortly after launching late Thursday night, Why Don’t We’s “8 Letters” rocketed to #1 on the US iTunes sales chart.

It spent several hours in the position, before ultimately ceding the throne to Eminem’s “Kamikaze.” It remains #2 on the chart as of press time at 8:15AM ET Friday.

With Eminem’s surprise album “Kamikaze” gaining momentum, it is unclear how long it will stay in the position.

What is clear, however, is that Why Don’t We’s new “8 Letters” currently ranks as the best-selling album on US iTunes.

“8 Letters” occupies the #1 position as of press time at 1:55AM ET. Troye Sivan’s new “Bloom” follows at #2, while the aforementioned “Kamikaze” sits at #3.

Jesus Culture’s new “Living With A Fire (Live)” and Alkaline Trio’s new “Is This Thing Cursed?” (#5) complete the Top 5.

The surprise nature of the release (no pre-orders, no anticipation from the general public) currently leaves “Kamikaze” at a disadvantage on the chart. It should, however, quickly overcome that bottleneck — and move toward #1 as Friday unfolds.
