Twenty One Pilots’ “Jumpsuit” Headed For #1 On Mediabase Alternative Radio Chart

“Jumpsuit” should take over the #1 spot at alternative radio.

While it hit #1 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart earlier this summer, twenty one pilots’ “Jumpsuit” has not yet reached the pinnacle of the Mediabase alternative radio chart.

That should change this week. With three days left in the August 19-25 tracking period, “Jumpsuit” boasts a comfortable lead.

The song received 2,050 spins during the first four days of the tracking period. Up 4.5% from the count at this point last week, the tally slots “Jumpsuit” at #1 on the building/real-time alternative chart.

Weezer’s “Africa,” which spent the past three weeks at #1, is #2 on the building chart. It trails by 107 spins — and is actually decelerating (it is down 5.6% from last week). As such, it is not a threat to “Jumpsuit.”

Imagine Dragons’ building #3 “Natural” is actually gaining at a faster pace than “Jumpsuit” (1,902 spins, +12.3%), but it is unlikely to close the gap this week. It may, however, prevent “Jumpsuit” from securing a multi-week reign.

Editor’s Note: Mediabase and Billboard rely on slightly different panels to develop their airplay charts. While the Billboard brand obviously has more cachet overall, industry members often view Mediabase as more significant for radio. Label promotional messages almost always refer to Mediabase data.
