Nicki Minaj’s “Barbie Dreams” Received Opening Day Airplay At Urban & Rhythmic Radio

Numerous urban and rhythmic stations showed support for “Barbie Dreams.”

While it has not formally been confirmed as a radio single, Nicki Minaj’s “Barbie Dreams” has caught the attention of urban and rhythmic radio programmers.

The song received airplay at both formats following the Friday launch of Minaj’s “Queen” album.

According to Mediabase, New York’s Power 105.1 ranked as the top urban radio supporter. By the end of Friday, it had played the song 9 times.

Other top urban supporters included Los Angeles’ Real 92.3 (7 spins), Philadelphia’s Boom 103.9 (4 spins), Raleigh’s K97.5 (4 spins), Cincinnati’s 101.1 The Wiz (3 spins), Detroit’s Hot 10.75 (3 spins), and Baltimore’s 92 Q (3 spins). Many other stations offered one or two opening day plays.

Responsible for 5 spins, LA’s Power 106 led the way at rhythmic. Dallas’ 97.9 The Beat and Seattle’s KUBE 93.3 followed the way with 3 spins each. Many other stations played the song once or twice on Friday.

“Barbie Dreams” has emerged as the top-performing track from the album; it currently holds the #3 position on iTunes and #1 position on Apple Music.
