Drake Sales Projections Downgraded; Album Now Pacing For 150-160K US Sales, 750K Total US Units

“Scorpion” remains a streaming monster, but the pure sales projection has been markedly downgraded.

Initial projections for Drake’s “Scorpion” called for the album to debut with 275-300,000 in pure US sales and 870-920,000 in total US units.

Those figures have since been downgraded.

Hits Daily Double now expects “Scorpion” to sell 150-160,000 pure US copies this week. With TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1250 for paid services, track streams/3750 for free services) included, the album should post an opening week consumption tally of 725-775,000.

As the breakdown reveals, the downgrade is entirely due to a lighter-than-expected pure sales performance. “Scorpion” is still expected to generate upwards of 600,000 in units from SEA and TEA. It, in fact, has already broken the single-week record on the streaming front.

Despite the downgrade, “Scorpion” will obviously debut as a dominant #1 on the Top Album Sales and Billboard 200 charts. Its unit total, moreover, will rank as 2018’s biggest thus far.
