No, Kanye West and Kid Cudi’s “Kids See Ghosts” album will not challenge Dave Matthews Band’s “Come Tomorrow” for #1 on this week’s album sales and consumption charts.
It will, however, fare better than initial projections suggested.
Hits Daily Double initially expected the album to open with 55-60K pure US sales and 100-110K total US units. The publication has since upgraded the figures.
“Kids See Ghosts” is now expected to sell 72-77K pure US copies this week. With TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) included, it should generate 130-140K in total consumption.
The sales figure should be enough for #3 on the Top Album Sales chart, while the consumption tally will yield a #2 bow on the Billboard 200.
As noted, “Come Tomorrow” is set to top both listings. The latest projections call for about 275K pure US sales and 280K total US units.
Dierks Bentley’s “The Mountain” should also land higher than “Kids See Ghosts” on the pure sales chart. It is pacing for about 95K in pure sales and 100K in total units.
