Maroon 5 & Cardi B’s “Girls Like You” Debuts On Hot 100, Digital Song Sales Charts

The release of the Cardi B remix and video thrusts “Girls Like You” onto the Billboard Hot 100.

The Cardi B remix (and accompanying video) of Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” did not arrive until the final day of the May 25-31 sales and streaming tracking period. It did not launch until the fourth day of the May 28-June 3 radio tracking period.

Despite those realities, the song still earns a spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

Specifically, the song starts at #94 on the all-genre chart, which ranks songs based on sales, streams and radio activity.

In this case, the chart position accounts for activity on both the original version and the Cardi B remix. Cardi B receives the credit because the remix generated the lion’s share of points.

— Perhaps more impressively than the Hot 100 debut, “Girls Like You” takes #12 on the Digital Song Sales chart. In other words, “Girls Like You” needed just one day to become the week’s twelfth-best-selling single (the original version was a non-factor on iTunes until the remix arrived).
