“Avengers: Infinity War” Stays Dominant At US Friday Box Office; “Overboard” Takes #2

“Avengers: Infinity War” unsurprisingly ruled the Friday box office.

Setting itself up for another weekend victory, “Avengers: Infinity War” dominated the US Friday box office.

The film earned $31.4 million Friday. Easily the day’s #1 tally, the mark positions “Avengers” to earn upwards of $115 million during the three-day weekend. That will be the weekend’s best gross by many multiples.

Second place will likely belong to new release “Overboard.” The film took second place Friday with $4.8 million and should close its opening weekend with $13-17 million.

“A Quiet Place” took third place with $2.3 million in Friday receipts. Its three-day weekend total should land in the $6-9 million range.

“I Feel Pretty” (#4, $1.6 million) and “Rampage” (#5, $1.2 million) completed the Friday Top 5. They should each close the weekend with $4-6 million.

— Newcomers “Tully” and “Bad Samaritan” grossed $1.2 million (#6) and $0.7 million (#8), respectively, at the Friday box office. They should post opening weekend totals of $3-4 million and $1.5-2 million, respectively.
