“Avengers: Infinity War” Breaks All-Time Record At US Weekend Box Office

“Infinity War” scores the biggest opening weekend gross in US box office history.

Thanks to its stronger-than-expected Friday performance, “Avengers: Infinity War” made the prospect of setting the opening weekend box office record a legitimate possibility.

Based on its strong Saturday and Sunday numbers, “Infinity War” made that outcome a reality.

Studio estimates have “Avengers: Infinity War” earning $250 million at the US weekend box office. The count bests the $247.97 million earned by “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” to rank as a new record.

As for this weekend’s box office race, “Infinity War” claims #1 by a factor of more than 23. “A Quiet Place” takes #2 with $10.7 million in receipts (cume now $148.2 million).

“I Feel Pretty” follows at #3 with $8.1 million (cume now $29.6 million), while a weekend gross of $7.1 million positions “Rampage” in #4 (cume now $77.9 million).

Even as “Avengers” entered the fray, fellow Marvel movie “Black Panther” still earned enough ($4.4 million) for #5. The megahit’s cumulative total now stands at $688.0 million.
