Ratings: “Black Lightning” Season Finale Adds Viewers, Holds Steady In Demo

“Black Lightning” closes its first season with a week-over-week viewership gain.

Going into Tuesday’s season finale, The CW’s “Black Lightning” had been demonstrating remarkable consistency in the ratings.

Even though they faced varying competition and sometimes aired without lead-in support from “The Flash,” the past eight episodes all drew the same 0.5 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic.

The consistency continued with the finale. According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Tuesday’s “Black Lightning” drew a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating.

It averaged 1.69 million overall viewers, topping the 1.54 million viewer mark attained by the previous episode.

While “Black Lightning” has not been a ratings phenom, it has been a strong performer by CW standards. That contextual strength — and week-to-week stability — certainly justifies the network’s decision to order a second season.

— Tuesday’s CW lineup also included “The Flash,” which drew a 0.6 rating and 1.87 million viewers (versus a 0.6 and 1.82 million last week).
