Update: The 2018 Academy Of Country Music Awards ceremony matched the 2017 edition in adults 18-49. It meanwhile enjoyed a year-over-year gain in overall viewership.
According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, the show averaged a 2.1 adults 18-49 rating and 12.08 million overall viewers.
Last year’s ceremony posted the same 2.1 demo rating but only attracted 10.91 million in overall viewership.
The ceremony, which aired on CBS, was the night’s most-watched show. It was also the #1 network program in adults 18-49 (cable series “The Walking Dead” surely drew a stronger demo rating; “Fear The Walking Dead” may have if the Morgan crossover intrigued fans).

The 2018 Academy Of Country Music Awards ceremony appears to have outperformed last year’s show in households.
According to metered market data posted by Programming Insider, Sunday’s ceremony averaged a 7.2 overnight household rating from 8-11PM ET. The number represents an increase from the 6.5 rating posted by last year’s show.
Adults 18-49 and overall viewership data will be available later this morning. While there is no guarantee the show will also be up in those columns, the overnight household increase likely rules out a major decline.
While the ACM Awards markedly beat ABC’s “American Idol” (4.2 household rating in the night), the ceremony did not dominate all network shows.
CBS’ own “60 Minutes” actually ranked as the night’s top show in the overnights (7.8 household rating), while ABC’s James Comey interview drew the same 7.2 as the ACM Awards.
