Camila Cabello’s “Never Be The Same” Reaches #2 As Pop Radio’s Top Airplay Gainer

“Never Be The Same” reaches a new peak on this week’s pop radio chart.

The climb continues for Camila Cabello’s “Never Be The Same,” which rises two spots to #2 on this week’s Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.

“Never Be The Same” received ~15,395 spins during the April 8-14 tracking period. The count tops last week’s mark by 1,306 spins, which ranks as the pop format’s greatest airplay gain.

This week’s other big gainers include Shawn Mendes’ “In My Blood” (+1,101), Charlie Puth’s “Done For Me (featuring Kehlani)” (+1,070), Drake’s “God’s Plan” (+840), and The Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar’s “Pray For Me” (+819).

“Never Be The Same” is the follow-up to Cabello’s global phenomenon “Havana,” which spent seven weeks atop the pop chart and also hit #1 at rhythmic and hot adult contemporary radio. It also reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

While “Never Be The Same” has not performed quite as spectacularly on the sales and streaming front, it has been a reliable performer in both categories.

“Never Be The Same” is also receiving positive marks from radio audiences. While the initial Mediabase callout (listener survey) scores were disappointing, “Never Be The Same” now ranks in the Top 5 for positive and net positive (positive – negative) reaction. Its negative reaction is below the median (lower is better).

Not simply a pop hit, “Never Be The Same” is currently #12 at rhythmic radio and #14 at hot adult contemporary radio.
