“Ready Player One” Wins US Friday Box Office, “Tyler Perry’s Acrimony” Takes Second

“Ready Player One” and “Tyler Perry’s Acrimony” led the Friday box office.

“Ready Player One” predictably ranked as Friday’s number one film in the United States.

After earning $12.0 million in its Thursday debut, “Ready Player One” hauled in another $15.2 million on Friday.

The figure, which convincingly ranked as the day’s best, positions “Ready Player One” for a weekend tally in in the $39-43 million range.

Fellow newcomer “Tyler Perry’s Acrimony” took second place at the Friday box office with $7.3 million. It should close the weekend with $15-18 million.

Setting itself up for a weekend total in the $11-13 million range, the enduring “Black Panther” earned $4.1 million Friday. It was the day’s #3 film.

“I Can Only Imagine” (#4, $3.7 million) and “Pacific Rim Uprising” (#5, $3.3 million) completed the Top 5. “I Can Only Imagine” should close the weekend with $9-11 million; “Uprising” should earn $8-10 million.
