Spotify Teases New Taylor Swift Video; Says “More Cool Stuff” Is Coming Soon

Spotify hypes on the one-take video, which launches on Spotify late Thursday night.

Thursday morning, Taylor Swift revealed that a new video for her song “Delicate” would be launching on Spotify at midnight EDT.

The streaming service subsequently shared its own announcement about the new video. It also teased future collaborations with the global superstar.

“‘How did she do it?’ This is what you’ll be asking yourself after watching a brand new vertical video of Taylor Swift’s new hit song, ‘Delicate,’ shot just for Spotify by Taylor,” says a blog post from Spotify.

Spotify adds that the new clip, which was filmed in one take, captures “Delicate” in a completely different way than the official music video.

Spotify users in the US, UK, Sweden and Latin America will gain access to the video at midnight (12AM EDT) late Thursday/early Friday. It will be showcased on several official playlists: Today’s Top Hits, Teen Party, Pop Rising and THIS IS: Taylor Swift.

The “Delicate” video will evidently not be a one-off collaboration between Swift and Spotify. In its blog post on the video, Spotify reveals, “we’ll have more cool stuff to share involving Taylor and Spotify soon.”

The relationship between Swift and Spotify has been interesting to track in recent years.

Swift famously pulled her music from the streaming service while launching her 2014 album “1989.” She generated huge headlines by returning to the service this past summer, and then made more waves by withholding her new album “reputation” from streaming services (including Spotify) during its first few weeks of release.

Playlist positioning has also been a compelling discussion topic for fans. As an example, promotional “reputation” track “Call It What You Want” was absent from Spotify’s popular New Music Friday playlist. The omission made waves, as releases from high-profile pop artists almost always land near the top of said playlist.

Swift has, however, demonstrated a continued commitment to using the service. She majorly updated her “Songs Taylor Loves” playlist this past February.

Whatever their history, with the new “Delicate” video launching Thursday and future projects on the docket, it appears the two entities are currently on very good terms.
