Ratings: “The Voice,” “Rise” Fall Against Big ABC Competition

ABC’s highly rated comedy broadcasts seem to have hurt NBC’s lineup.

Facing mammoth competition from ABC’s “Roseanne” premiere, Tuesday’s “The Voice” endured week-over-week losses in adults 18-49 and overall viewership.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, “The Voice” drew a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 8.88 million overall viewers.

Last week’s episode drew a considerably stronger 2.2 adults 18-49 rating and 10.96 million viewership figure.

Granted, that broadcast did not face anything like “Roseanne,” which averaged a monstrous 5.1 demo rating and 18.16 million viewer mark from 8-9PM.

Support from “Roseanne” helped ABC stay hot in the 9PM hour; “black-ish” and “Splitting Up Together” delivered big numbers in their own right. That heightened competition, as well as reduced lead-in support from “The Voice,” spelled trouble for “Rise.”

After posting a 1.1 rating and 5.39 million viewers for last week’s time period premiere, the drama fell to a 0.8 rating and 4.48 million viewership figure this week.

“Chicago Med” closed the night with a 1.0 and 5.81 million. Last week’s episode drew a 1.2 and 6.89 million.

— In addition to the elevated ABC competition, NBC’s Tuesday programs faced competition from new episodes of CBS’ dramas. CBS aired re-runs last week.
