Ratings: Syfy’s “Krypton” Starts Similarly To “Happy” In Adults 18-49

“Krypton” was Wednesday’s #5 cable original in the key demo.

The premiere of “Krypton” did not deliver monster ratings for Syfy. Given the hype, some may argue that the performance is underwhelming.

It did, however, post solid numbers by typical network (and overall cable standards).

According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s “Krypton” drew a 0.42 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 1.32 million overall viewers.

When it comes to the demo, the performance was similar to that of the December 2017 “Happy” premiere. That Syfy show opened with a 0.40 rating and 1.10 million viewers.

“Krypton” was the #5 Wednesday cable original in adults 18-49 (and #1 among scripted shows).

Ratings pundits will surely be paying attention to two factors moving forward:

— Will “Krypton” receive an atypically large bump from DVR and multi-platform viewing?
— Insofar as the premiere benefited from considerable promotion (and thus the curiosity factor), will it be able to hold up in the weeks ahead?
