Ratings: “The Walking Dead” Enjoys Slight Increase For Sunday’s Episode

“The Walking Dead” was up slightly in adults 18-49 and overall viewership.

No, it did not make up all of this season’s lost live+same-day ratings ground.

Sunday’s edition of “The Walking Dead” did, however, narrowly outperform the previous episode in adults 18-49 and overall viewership.

According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, the episode drew a 2.83 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 6.66 million overall viewers.

The numbers slightly top the 2.80 rating and 6.60 million viewer mark posted by the previous episode.

This week’s episode, it should be noted, also faced competition from NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament games. While the games did not draw mammoth ratings, they made for stiffer opposition than that which “TWD” faced last week.

“TWD” was Sunday’s #1 cable original in adults 18-49 and overall viewership. It led all Sunday night programs (network and broadcast) in adults 18-49.

“The Walking Dead” is obviously not as hot as it once was, but the eighth-season drama remains a strong live+same-day attraction. This week’s episode, as is the norm for the show, will also post big DVR/multi-platform gains.

— Sunday’s “TWD” led into “Talking Dead,” which drew a 1.09 rating and 2.66 million viewers. Last week’s episode posted a 0.85 in the demo and 2.32 million in viewers.
