“Black Panther” Wins 5th US Weekend Box Office; “Tomb Raider” Debuts At #2

“Black Panther” holds off “Tomb Raider” to keep the US weekend box office crown.

The projection proved accurate. Despite taking second place on Friday, “Black Panther” ended up winning the overall US weekend box office race.

“Black Panther,” which will add an estimated $27.0 million to its haul during the March 16-18 weekend, enjoys a fifth consecutive US box office victory.

Its cumulative total, moreover, blasts past $600 million in the US. Including this weekend’s estimated total, “Black Panther” has grossed a whopping $605.4 million.

“Tomb Raider,” which led the Friday box office, takes second place for the weekend. The new release debuted with $23.5 million. “I Can Only Imagine,” another new release, debuts at #3 with $17.1 million.

“A Wrinkle In Time,” which debuted at #2 last weekend, falls to #4 in weekend two. It added $16.6 million to its total (cume now $61.1 million).

New release “Love, Simon” starts at #5 with $11.5 million.
