“Black Panther” Claims #1 At 4th Consecutive US Weekend Box Office

“A Wrinkle In Time” could not dethrone “Black Panther.”

Making good on projections, megahit “Black Panther” wins a fourth consecutive US weekend box office race.

The film will close the weekend with an estimated $41.1 million in new receipts. The figure brings the film’s cumulative total to $562.0 million.

Newcomer “A Wrinkle In Time” starts at #2. It earned $33.3 million in its inaugural weekend.

Fellow new release “Strangers: Prey At Night” starts at #3 with $10.5 million, while a second weekend gross of $8.2 million brings “Red Sparrow” down two places to #4.

“Red Sparrow” now boasts a cumulative total of $31.1 million.

Down one place, “Game Night” takes #5 with $7.9 million (cume now $45.0 million).

— In addition to “A Wrinkle In Time” and “Strangers,” this weekend’s box office welcomed “The Hurricane Heist” and “Gringos.” Neither made a big impact.

The former takes #8 on the box office chart with $3.1 million, while the latter earns #11 on the strength of its $2.6 million.
