Amid eager anticipation from fans, Meghan Trainor officially released her new single “No Excuses” Thursday morning.
The song, which features her signature lyrical style, throwback vibe and self-assurance, serves as the lead single from her forthcoming third album.
“I love how so many women are standing up for what’s right,” says the Grammy-winning Trainor in an official press release. “I wanted to write us all a powerful anthem. Sometimes, people talk down to me, because I’ve only been doing this for four years, so I wrote this song. It’s my modern version of ‘R-E-S-P-E-C-T.’ It’s all about equality and being kind.”
Along with the audio, Trainor debuted the official music video for the song (watch it below).
Trainor, who recently wrapped her first season as a panelist on “The Four,” will be promoting “No Excuses” on Thursday’s “Daily Pop,” Friday’s “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and this coming Monday’s “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Trainor’s forthcoming album will be the follow-up to her platinum-certified “Thank You.” Said sophomore album spawned singles in “NO,” “Me Too,” and “Better.”
In between the two album cycles, Trainor released “I’m A Lady” from the “SMURFS: The Lost Village” soundtrack.
