“Black Panther” Quickly Reaches $400 Million At US Box Office

“Black Panther” dominated a second consecutive weekend box office race.

Making good on the very lofty forecasts, “Black Panther” will earn an estimated $108 million in its second weekend at the US weekend box office.

Enough for a dominant weekend victory, the figure also brings the film’s cumulative gross past $400 million.

Assuming the estimate holds up, the film’s running total will be at $400.0 million by the end of Sunday.

In reaching the $400 million mark on its tenth day in the market, “Black Panther” ties “Jurassic World” as the second-fastest film to reach the milestone. Only “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” ($8 days), got there faster.

As for this weekend, new release “Game Night” debuts at #2. The comedy earned $16.6 million.

“Peter Rabbit” falls one place to #3 with $12.5 million (cume now $71.3 million), while new release “Annihilation” bows at #4 with $11.0 million.

Down two places, “Fifty Shades Freed” earns #5 with $6.9 million (cume now $89.6 million).

— “Every Day,” the only other somewhat major new release, debuts at #9 with an estimated $3.1 million from just under 1700 screens.
