Disturbed’s “Sound Of Silence” Rockets To #2 On iTunes Sales Chart Following Olympics Feature

Vanessa James and Morgan Ciprès skated to “The Sound Of Silence.”

When a resonant song receives high-profile television exposure, it often shoots up the US iTunes sales chart.

Disturbed’s triple-platinum version of “The Sound Of Silence” did not break from that trend.

French athletes Vanessa James and Morgan Ciprès performed a free skate routine to the cover during Wednesday’s Winter Olympics coverage.

When the skate aired, “The Sound Of Silence” was below the Top 100 on the all-genre US iTunes sales chart.

It immediately burst into the chart’s upper reaches. As of press time at 1:15AM ET, it was up to #2 on the chart.

Only Drake’s “God’s Plan” is selling at a faster pace.

While numerous songs have received sales boosts following Winter Olympics showcases, none has gone as high as “The Sound Of Silence.”
