Saweetie Signs Deal With WB Records; “Hip-Hop’s New Leading Lady Is On The Come-Up”

Saweetie’s debut EP is due March 16.

With music fans still buzzing over her single “Icy Grl,” hip-hop artist Saweetie has inked a deal with WB Records.

The deal creates a partnership between her own Icy imprint, Artistry Records and WBR.

“You know you have something special when an artist immediately connects in the way SAWEETIE has,” says Tom Corson, COO and Co-Chairman of WBR. “SAWEETIE’s empowering lyrics, street-smart sensibilities and flawless delivery have perfectly collided to make ‘ICY GRL’ a viral sensation and SAWEETIE an artist to champion. Huge thanks to our partner Max Gousse and Warner’s own Eesean Bolden for bringing SAWEETIE to us. We’re thrilled to help bring her unique talent to the masses.”

In addition to making waves with “Icy Grl,” Saweetie appeared in a Super Bowl ad for Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty.

She is finalizing her debut EP, which is due for release on March 16.

“Flaunting nineties rhyme reverence, fashion-forward fire, and endless charisma, SAWEETIE—born Diamonté Harper—can go bar-for-bar with the best of ‘em. Drawing on a passion for poetry and numerous years of rapping in the car, she turned her love for words into vivid verses,” says the official WBR press release.

It later declares, “Hip-hop’s new leading lady is on the come-up. You’ve been warned.”
