Ratings: The CW’s “Black Lighting” Dips Following “The Flash” Re-Run; Faced Olympics

Facing Winter Olympics competition without strong lead-in support, “Black Lightning” slipped in the ratings.

Tuesday’s “Black Lightning” faced competition from NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage. It also aired without lead-in support from a new episode of flagship CW drama “The Flash.”

Unsurprisingly, it endured declines in adults 18-49 and overall viewership.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Tuesday’s “Black Lightning” drew a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 1.78 million overall viewers.

Last week’s “Black Lightning” drew a 0.6 in the demo and 1.88 million in viewership.

That episode, of course, aired out of an original edition of “The Flash” (0.8, 2.28 million). This week’s episode followed a re-run, which managed only a 0.3 and 1.09 million viewers.

This week’s episode, moreover, had to deal with mammoth competition from the Olympics.

Considering those factors, news of the ratings decline is not especially damning.

Tuesday’s “Black Lightning” marked the fifth installment of the new series.
