Ratings: “HTGAWM” Falls To Series Low Against Olympics; “Grey’s,” “Scandal” Also Down

Competition from the Winter Olympics took a bite out of ABC’s “TGIT” lineup.

Facing competition from night one of NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage, ABC’s three “TGIT” dramas suffered ratings losses Thursday.

“How To Get Away With Murder” actually fell to new series lows in adults 18-49 and overall viewership. “Scandal” tied a low in adults 18-49 and set a new one in viewers.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, “HTGAWM” drew a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 3.26 million overall viewers this week. The series low numbers trail the 1.0 rating and 3.68 million viewer mark posted last week.

Airing in the 9PM hour, “Scandal” drew a 1.1 rating and 4.63 million viewers. The figures trail the 1.4 rating and 5.62 million viewer mark garnered last week.

The demo rating, moreover, ties the show’s all-time low. The viewership number represents a new low.

“Grey’s Anatomy” opened ABC’s night with a 2.0 and 7.30 million viewers. While neither is a low, the numbers do trail the 2.3 rating and 8.93 million viewership average posted by the previous episode.

The three shows will have the chance to rebound when they return on March 1. In addition to being free of Winter Olympics competition, all three shows will be airing special events.

“Grey’s Anatomy” will introduce a key character from the new “Station 19” spin-off, while “Scandal” and “How To Get Away With Murder” will have their heavily hyped crossover event.
